JONATHAN SOMEN

founder & managing director

Jonathan is a well‐known Kenyan businessman, born and brought up in Kenya and educated in both
Kenya and the United Kingdom. In 2000, he founded AccessKenya Group Ltd which became Kenya’s
leading Corporate Internet Service Provider. During his tenure, the company became the first ICT
company to list on the Nairobi Stock Exchange and he successfully ran the business from its
inception in 2000 up to September 2015 when he stepped down as the Group Managing Director to
take up a role as a Non‐Executive Director, having overseen the sale of the business to Dimension
Data in 2013. AccessKenya employs over 350 people and operates numerous offices across Kenya
and Jonathan also oversaw the Group’s East African regional offices and operations from Nairobi.

As a well‐known entrepreneur and businessman, Jonathan brings his knowledge of the ICT Industry
to the Company, his East African knowledge and expertise as well as his skills as a leader and
manager of businesses in the region. His experience running networks since 2003 stands him in good
stead to identify market defining vendors and provide excellent backup to ensure they deliver right
for the clients

Jonathan holds a degree in Economics & Accounting from Bristol University.

PETRA SOMEN

FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Petra is an entrepreneur in her own right. Having studied Tourism in Germany, Petra’s career saw
her move from Germany back to Kenya where her family have lived since 1985. Petra was previously
the Marketing Manager of AccessKenya Group and led the marketing team when AccessKenya won
a prestigious COYA (Company of the Year) award in the year after AccessKenya became a listed
entity on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

Changing her career path, Petra founded Serenity Spa in 2013 and has developed that business into
Nairobi’s Number One Day Spa.

With her General Management experience as well as her considerable Marketing acumen, Petra is
an invaluable asset to the business.

DAVID SOMEN

Executive Chairman

David has founded and managed two highly successful technology companies – LCR Telecom Group
and AccessKenya Group. LCR Telecom Group, a telephony business servicing approximately 10,000
corporate customers, was sold to PRIMUS, a NASDAQ listed company, in 2000. David subsequently
became Managing Director of PRIMUS Europe, where he managed a budget of about $300 million
and was responsible for about 1,000 employees.

David is currently managing director of Virtual IT, and splits his time between this role, and Eldama.

David has a Law Degree from Oxford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
